Museums
A Washington, DC area native I am no stranger to museums. Trust me when I say New York offers some of the best museums you will find. If you are a history buff like myself you should venture to the city and explore. There's a reason I live in Hamilton Heights (wink!).

Shopping
New York City is one of the best places to shop in the world. The key is knowing where to go and that my friend is a talent.
There's what I call Designer Row (between 5th and Madison Avenues), Soho (near NYU), then you have other Fashion District shops along 7th and 6th Avenues (from 34th-42nd St), If you dare, venture into China Town (Canal Street). It's very crowded, but you can always find something in China Town. While you're there grab a bite to eat in Little Italy.
Visit NYC Row to help plan your trip out. Visit their page for details.
If you don't like what you see there, check out nymag's top 25 retail stores. Visit their webpage for details.

Long Island
A different kind of island get away indeed. Long Island is such a departure from New York City. Beautiful year round, there is plenty to see and do if you have some spare time. Take a minute to plan your trip now so you get the most out of your visit.
