His Story
I first met Sharla when she joined my company in Manhattan, New York. I didn’t give much thought to her physical beauty, but I definitely noticed. She was probably checking me out too. However, for two years or so we both continued to work as professionals, seeing each other occasionally at work. Both carrying on with life outside of work.
Her Story
I lived in West Harlem and worked in East Harlem. The demands of life began to limit the frequency of my trips back home and my besties' trips to NY to visit. So I began hanging out more in the city with my co-workers.
I met Robert at work and was surprised to learn the intimidating Principal Trainer I knew from the office is actually a comedian with a playful sense of humor. At work Robert rarely if ever smiles. He is all business. Imagine my surprise when I enjoyed hanging out with him so much it was like we were old friends.
We soon became buddies exploring all of New York City and our friendship slowly turned into a budding romance.

Instead of meet us after work for drinks, I began hearing there's a car service waiting to take you home from work. Car service pick-ups turned into flower deliveries to the office. Soon Robert was accompanying me home to visit my Mom and Nana. In 2013, my Nana passed and Robert demonstrated all the virtues I was looking for in a mate. At that time I realized this one is a keeper! I am so happy to have found my forever love, companion, and friend.
This East coast girl found herself a California love.

Juliet's thing for Romeo

I would invite her to after work functions, like happy hours, park festivals,
and cultural events but, she only showed once in a while. Even when she did show,
she wouldn’t stay long and didn’t drink. I was intrigued and wanted to find out what she was about.
The next time we saw each other in a social setting, we talked, laughed and seemed to have what might have been her first good time in the city. I think she was flirting with me then, but I had to see her out a few more times to make sure. She started coming to more after-work events in hopes that I would be there. I would offer to extend our time together with invitations to dinners and she would act reluctant to accept, but usually always agreed and confessed to having a really good time.
We continued on the pattern of going out here and there until I spent enough time with her to know that she was what I needed and didn’t want to be without. So, I turned up the heat –so to speak. Dinner invitations on weekends, car service pick-ups when I found out she was working late or traveling, and flowers on special occasions but more importantly just because I wanted her to feel the way I felt when we spent time together.
Finally, I had enough of going out with her as good friends and I decided to ask her on an official “first date”. It was Valentine’s Day 2014 and I asked her to marry me. My best friend said yes.
